Beverly Hills Skin Story by Tim Boxell and Andrew Bonime Screenplay by Tim Boxell and Moira Kirland-Dekker Plastic Surgery among the celebs in Beverly Hills with a horrific twist that proves beauty is only skin deep - with amazing special FX!! Kevin Jordan is a celebrity plastic surgeon with a two-year waiting list. Kim Blume, a reporter for a celebrity weekly magazine comes into Kevin's life to do a story. At first, Kim accuses Kevin of exploiting people by doing unnecessary plastic surgery on them when they really need to feel better about themselves from the inside -- where it counts. Kevin shoots back that Kim's magazine articles help promote a culture where people feel they need to look beautiful to feel good about themselves. Naturally, they fall madly in love. When Kim is horribly burned in a car accident, Kevin must use an untested biotech product called Synthskin to save her. The Synthskin has the effect of making Kim beautiful - ethereal and otherworldly beautiful. Once word gets out, everyone wants Beverly Hills Skin (as it comes to be known). The unscrupulous Alex Carter, another plastic surgeon, and Kevin's former partner starts using Synthskin on all who request it (and everyone wants it). Kim, whose career is catapulted into high gear because of her newly acquired exquisite beauty, rejects the celebrity gossip articles the magazine offers her and opts instead to do an in-depth story on Synthskin. But she soon discovers that Synthskin has a murky past. The first test subject committed suicide. In Kim's attempt to find out what really happened, she comes upon a plot to make untold amounts of money on the biotech marvel before the truth comes out Synthskin has a major flaw: It turns completely clear after a few months, revealing blood, muscle and bone underneath - making people look like grotesque horror movie monsters -- a particularly unnerving prospect for all those who were made beautiful by it at first. Those who depend on their looks for their livelihoods start to freak out and we learn the true meaning of the phrase "beauty is only skin deep." At the end of the story, Kevin goes to work at a small clinic in Guatemala where he can put his talents to work on what really matters and redeem himself at last. Kim is there with him, still looking grotesque from the Synthskin, but Kevin has learned to love her for the beauty she has inside. This romantic thriller/science fiction story takes the audience on an exciting journey from the luxurious homes and pampered retreats of Rodeo Drive to the dense tropics and poverty of rural Guatemala. Beverly Hills Skin is a compelling story and moral tale that blends science fiction, an up-to-the-minute biotech breakthrough with its moral implications, and a passionate love affair. Beverly Hills Skin is a star vehicle that has great roles for the two rival plastic surgeon and the "plain Jane" who gets to be beautiful, then, well, weird. This has great celebrity lifestyle ambiance mixed with moral dilemmas and true love that proves that beauty is only skin deep.
